Goat Cheese
by Tiff on Dec.16, 2007, under Food
I am not a very picky person when it comes to food. I enjoy all kinds of fruits vegetables, breads, cheese, the list goes on. Before last night, I thought there were only two things on my list that I really hated. Those two things are olives and horseradish. Well I have confirmed that we can add one more to that list. Not only move it to the list, but move it all the way to the top. Goat Cheese!
About 6 months ago, a friend from work brought in a variety of cheeses and crackers for fun. Everyone dug in. This friend was into goat cheese, and asked me if I had tried it. I said no and he made me a cracker slathered with the stuff. Never having met a cheese I didn’t like, I was convinced it was heavenly and popped it into my mouth. What happened next was something that had never happened before. I was overcome with disgust, and he said “Isn’t it delicious?” I straight up said no, omg, this is the worst thing I have ever tasted and spit it out. I thought it was funny and we all got a laugh. I pretty much forgot about that day, but I kept in mind that I didn’t like goat cheese.
Last night at the EA party, appetizers were going around. A lady offered a plate of celery, half white filled and half red filled. J had the white one, I had the red one. It was yummy! Later that evening she came by again and I grabbed a white one and popped it in my mouth. I was happily enjoying my long island iced tea and I started to chew on this celery thing and I could tell it was cheese so I started swirling around my tongue trying to decipher what kind of cheese it was. Then it hit me, I knew immediately as that bitter taste filled my mouth that I had to spit this out NOW. I desperately made motions for “napkin” to J, and he didn’t know what was going on. I spit it out into my napkin with rocket speed and freaked out. I swear, goat cheese, in my mouth, tastes like poison. I am not kidding, it is like poison to me. I almost threw up right then and there. I couldn’t do anything to get the taste out because I had finished my drink. I couldn’t believe something as tame as goat cheese could be the worst thing I have ever tasted, but it is. This kind of sucks, because now I know I could never make it on Survivor, Big Brother or (the now canceled) Fear Factor because if I can’t stomach Goat Cheese, I could never eat goat balls, or goat intestines like they would make me eat on those shows.

Wow, this was a really good Lean Cuisine meal. It is one of the only times I have chosen to go “meatless” in my lunches and I am truly floored. It tastes amazing, and the butternut squash is slightly sweet. I was not hungry afterwards, which is quite a shock, because since I started ditching eating out and started eating Lean Cuisines, I am normally wishing for a little something more after lunch. Not so with this one! It has 5-6 medium sized raviolis, and then TONS of vegetables with a rich tasty sauce. I finished the raviolis quickly but had a plate of vegetables to finish. I made myself finish the vegetables and wow, I was satisfied! I am going to make this one a regular in my rotation that is for sure. For those on a budget, if you sign up for the Lean Cuisine newsletter, you will receive a coupon for $1.00 off of 2 Lean Cuisines. If you use the coupon when the Lean Cuisines are on sale, ($2.00-$2.50 on sale here) you will receive a dolar off and that is a great deal for 2 lunches!
Willpower

I tried Weight Watchers in the past and it worked… but counting points is bad because even when you reach a good weight you are going to stop the counting and then you can’t eat like a “normal” person (that was me!). Even though nowadays “normal” is fat kinda, isn’t that odd? Anyway, my point is, I am just trying to eat lots of salad. I really like salad. You can’t expect me to live on it, but I do really like it, but I am always tempted by bad stuff! Well J asked me to go to McD’s for him, and I stopped and got a salad from the store on the way. It was NOT easy cause I was starving. It worked out though. I suppose I do have willpower then don’t I? Well it is day 2 of eating salad for dinner and a lean cuisine for lunch. Oh and special k as a late night snack if I want one, cause I actually like special k. The chocolate one is really good! I am learning to like the Lean Cuisines as well. It really takes a while of trying before you find the ones that you like. I actually plan on posting mini-reviews of the ones I try here on this blog. There is a much better site that already does this: HeatEatReview - however that is them and this is basically for me so I remember which ones I like so I buy them again. After you’ve had a lot, you forget which one you hated that sounded good, then you get it again and go “OH YEAHHH! THIS ONE SUCKED!”
