Hello Tiffy!

Holidays

Can’t wait til work is over…

by Tiff on Jan.02, 2009, under Diet, Holidays

Oh, yesterday I was feeling horrible! However I feel better today. I have yet to go to the grocery store to buy some veggies and meat for my diet however I have done fine so far. Chinese food is pretty easy to have veggies and meat only. I don’t miss carbs yet but I am sure it will hit me soon….

Y’all

by Tiff on Dec.31, 2008, under Diet, Holidays

I catch myself saying “Y’all” several times per day now. It is always embarrassing, even though most of the time the people don’t catch it or notice it, it rings in my head for a few seconds after it comes pouring out of my mouth! I have an interesting little dialect now, I sound like a Texafornian… “Dude! Y’all should hella come tonight, it will be fun!”……..

I sound like a freak, it is kinda cute, but kinda creepy, someone at work told me I am gaining a “twang” too, but I think he was just fucking with me.

Tonight we are going across the street to the Riata Bar & Grill - our local diner/bar to ring in the New Year. A couple friends from work that live close by will be there too. I am working tomorrow so I am not gonna get crazy, but I will enjoy my last junk food/beer for a little while as I start on my South Beach Diet adventure tomorrow. I will let “y’all” know how it goes.

I hope everyone (or is that ANYONE) reading this has an awesome party tonight and if not, I hope you get the best sleep of 2008.

Take care, Y’ALL!

Made it home alive

by Tiff on Dec.30, 2008, under Holidays, Maysie

Yes I made it home alive, thank goodness! On the first flight to Dallas on Dec 24th it was definitely my most frightening ride, I was white-knuckling it the whole time and tears were streaming out however it was such a short ride it was not that bad. Only 38 minutes in the air. It seemed like by the time we go in the air we were praparing for a landing.

On the 2nd flight, form Dallas to Kentucky I was not feeling good either, but I met this awesome flight attendant chick who literally sat there with me and was talking to me the whole time and we pretty much went through our relationships, our other life events and before I knew it 2.5 hours went by. She was so awesome. She also kicked me down a free beer to help me calm down, now THAT is customer service!

As for the stay in Kentucky it wasn’t something I would exactly call “fun”, we pretty much stayed in the house and enjoyed some awesome home made meals. I spent a lot of time playing Pool and Ping-Pong on the table that J’s parents had at the house in the rec room. We almost got our own little apartment on the ground level of the house so it was very private and definitely relaxing. We took our little dog Maysie and she seemed to thoroughly enjoy her self, especially as we gave her a little bit of every meal. She even let her grandma hold her a few times and gave her a kiss that was kind of a shock, as Maysie hates everyone but her parents….

We found a cute little bar/diner about 1 minute away so we went there twice during our stay and played some darts and drank a little. We met some locals and they were all super nice. Nothing like a little “southern hospitality” when you are away from home to make you feel comfortable.

We left at 4 AM on Sunday morning to catch our first flight so luckily I was so tired the anxierty wasn’t as prevalent as I expected. We arrived home around 11 AM and I crashed out for a few hours! Ah, I love being home.

Almost Dead

by Tiff on Dec.21, 2008, under Diet, Holidays, Life

Ok… Just kidding… Sometimes joking about death is not funny but seriously I am sooo scared about this flight on Wednesday! I just need to stop thinking about it…. well that was easier before I heard about this story which a place slipped off of the runway into a ball of flames! Ok, luckily no one was killed but that is sooo not the point.

In other news, we had snow here in Austin last week, it was freakin amazing. I have pictures to upload but they look just like white dots… still lots of fun and I was in awe and shock! Completely beautiful! Oh, it was like, flakes that melted before it hit the ground, so it was not like a winter wonderland here.. but it IS Austin, TX we are talking about. I think it deserves mucho recognition.. actually, I believe it was featured on CNN a few times the day after.

I got my hair done red last weekend, it is so cute… it took a few days to start liking it because it was such a big change! I also got a cute side part with some of those side wispy bangs. I am trendy ya know. Actually, I did this mostly because I am totally going gray! I will save that bitch session for another day.

Oh, I must tell you my new computer is keeping me warm at night…. I received an early Christmas present from Jay and it was the World of Warcraft expansion… how did he know? So I have been grinding and wasting away any free time that I get but unfortunately I will not get much free time for a while after the holiday. I do not get PTO at my job so I am missing 3 days of work and that means no money…. I am going to be doing a lot of Overtime when I get back to make up for the lack of money… which means less playtime.. boo. However I have felt like a lazy lazy lazy person lately, that is what being a geek does to you….

I am thinking about starting the South Beach Diet after the new year, a co-worker is starting it and I am like well why don’t I give it a try. I think it sounds decent, but no alcohol or sugar of any kind for the first two weeks. Also no bread I think, it is pretty restrictive. Meat and vegetables are good most of the time but you know the best part is the potato! Which I can not have.

So anyway, Weight Watchers really DOES work but I found my biggest strength from the diet came from within my close friend Angela and basically when I moved away I stopped being on track. My hope is if I do South Beach with my friend Mary then the fact that we are both on it will inspire me in the same way. So, I will let you know. In the meantime, I will drink beer! :P

Happy Thanksgiving

by Tiff on Nov.27, 2008, under Food, Holidays

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I really hope it was awesome for you. We had 2 Thanksgivings this year. A close friend of ours invited us for dinner with her family and we spent the day there and we had a great time. J’s work provided the people that were working today with a Boston Market Thanksgiving Feast so technically J gets 3 Thanksgivings today! the bastard! Just kidding. He went to work for a few hours and nibbled a bit. Then he came home and we went to our friend M’s house. We had some great food and watched some football and chatted it up. After that, we came home, where I am heating up the turkey now. We won’t be eating dinner #2 (or #3) until about 10:30 tonight but we are both anxious. Our friend didn’t provide a few of our traditional favorites, and I had baked a green bean casserole which I MUST HAVE AT THANKSGIVING.. at some time during the day. So I baked that earlier, I considered bringing it to M’s house but I thought eh, I will eat it for our 2nd dinner and it is going to be soooooooo good too. We are also having cornbread stuffing, turkey and gravy and we got some pies (pumpkin and apple) from Marie Callendar’s restaurant. In a way I was kind of glad that M’s house didn’t have the few things we long for. It will make our 2nd dinner extra special.

Ahhh Thanksgiving, now to get stuffed! Damn work tomorrow!

A good day

by Tiff on Nov.13, 2008, under Holidays, Life

http://www.arjanwrites.com/arjanwrites/images/2007/09/26/bee_gees_stayin_alive.jpg

Life wasn’t bad today. That’s a good thing. J booked our tickets to Kentucky for Christmas (we are spending 5 days at his mom’s new house). I will be dreading every moment until we get on the plane. I don’t dread being there, I just dread getting there. I hate flying, planes make me assume I am dead the moment I step on. Oh I hope I am still blogging after December 29. If you promise I will live through the trip, please comment and say “You will live”. Don’t worry if you don’t want to lie, and promise something that may not be factual. If I die I won’t hold it against you :P. Just encourage me to go by promising that I will live. Thanks for your support.

You can’t get much easier than this to look cute and scary on Halloween.

I said I was “a dead chick”. Many rave reviews.

I banish thee, mucus!

by Tiff on Oct.26, 2008, under Holidays, Life, Work

I am feeling a lot better in the head and body today, but my lungs and nose are still coated with slime. In more exciting news, I am going to J’s work to help decorate for Halloween. J’s work and my work are in the same building, but at different companies. He manages a call center that takes calls for EA and I work on the other side of the glass working for that company directly. I am pretty sure that I am helping decorate Halloween for his side. Should be fun, I was apparently volunteered without my knowledge as J knows I love decorating. One of the perks of the volunteering was to go shopping but the director already did that part. Boooo. I would like to dress up this year but I have no idea yet if we are doing anything, probably not. I have never seen J get dressed up but since he is a manager and his people are expected to dress up maybe he will! That should be funny. If he does, then I would too, if we were going out somewhere of course.

I have been on a total pumpkin kick lately. (Go figure, right?) I swear though, I used to kind of hate the pumpkin spice flavor, but I absolutely adore it now. I have pumpkin beer, pumpkin coffee creamer, oh the Starbucks pumpkin frappucinos are to die for. Pumpkin pie well that is a given! Last year I thought I hated pumpkin pie and had a piece and then another piece and then another piece it was like someone lit the pumpkin candle in my jack-o-lantern head. I am obsessed with it now, can not get enough! Speaking of pumpkin, we are thinking about carving a pumpkin this year that will be a 1st in a long time as well. While browsing the HEB last night, I saw the pumpkins and mentioned to J we should carve a pumpkin! He said … for work? I used this opportunity to say “Yes, we can carve it then bring it to work” He replied “Ok”. See the progres here people? He is normally not all that keen on fun… well, he is but it takes him a long time to get up to doing something like carve a pumpkin in your late 20s/early 30s. Me on the other hand, you know I never lost my childish whimsy. So anyway, from now on when I want to do cute things for no reason, I can say we will bring it to work.. yeah, that’s the ticket.

We also saw Egg Nog while strolling HEB. It’s the best feeling when you spot Egg Nog in the store for the first time! It’s like NOW it’s really going to be Christmas soon. I feel particularly indifferent about Egg Nog. Being a major opposer of milk, but a big fan of ice cream, I am torn when I sip Egg Nog. It is tasty for a few sips, and then at that point I pass the rest to the BF.

Happy New Year

by Tiff on Jan.01, 2008, under Holidays, Life

So we went to Chevy’s for dinner and we had some good food. He had a 4 entree combo (Don’t you hate those 6′6″ fuckers that can eat everything and not gain weight?) And I had the shrimp and crab quesadilla. Sooo good. We shared a pitcher of margaritas but I had a shot of patron, hoping it would not only make me buzzed, but clear my sinuses and burn out the bacteria. Well, it worked nicely, because the rest of the night I felt much better. I stayed home and worked yesterday so I could get some more rest but I actually took the advice of people I worked with and went out a bit. I am glad that I did now.

So now I have leftover shrimp and crab quesadillas which is never a bad thing. We bought 2 bottles of champy which of course I mostly drank. :D What was I to do, leave them for later, well I could have but I like to throw down. We have a bit left over I have heard of recipes that require “leftover” wine … can’t say I have had leftover wine before but now is a good time to use it :D

Unless I drink it :D

Buh Bye, 2007

by Tiff on Dec.31, 2007, under Holidays, Life

HelloKitty_new_year

Unfortunately my health took a turn and I spent the day in bed hacking up a lung. However, Two friends advised me to go and do something tonight because New Years Eve is only once a year. I think they are right. I am going to have dinner with J and then we will share a bottle of champagne. Sounds like fun to me, as long as I can hold up! I am sure I will be healthy soon as I seem to get better every day. This year was not too bad!

~We got our Maysie in January

~Got a promotion at EA from Senior Support Rep to Global CS Coordinator in March

~Went to Vegas and had a nice birthday there in August

~Left EA to go to my current company in September

~Paid off my Credit Card bills in December

I hope your New Year’s Eve celebration is great, and thanks for coming to my blog :) See you in 2008!
