Hello Tiffy!

Music

Blah blah blah

by Tiff on Feb.09, 2009, under Life, Music

I watched part of the Grammy Awards tonight and I enjoyed all of the oldies being performed. I don’t know if this is normal since I normally don’t watch, but I felt good feelings hearing The Four Tops songs, Beatles songs and even Neil Diamond songs it was cool. I find it kind of interesting because I really did grow up on the oldies. Basically in a way I grew up on what my parents grew up on. I listened to the (now banished to AM-only) Bay Area station KFRC 99.7 FM with my parents. In my room it would be going 24/7. I got my friends into it, and we would have sleepovers at my house and call the 800 request line and talk to the DJs all the time. It was uber fun for me. I probably didn’t start to discover my own preference or opinion about music until I was about 12 years old. (Then, MTV tainted me with Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre but that is another blog). So anyway, the oldies are the ones that truly remind me of childhood. Pure innocent childhood. I remember that most of my time between being 9 and 11 was spent playing Mega Man or Super Mario 3 and I would wait for the radio station to play certain oldies songs, almost as if it was a new song. One I particularly remember getting into was the song Heat Wave, because it was used for a Dominos Pizza commercial and suddenly I was into that song. I, having no brothers or sisters, had quite lax parents, so Fridays and Saturdays I could sit in my room and stay up all night if I wanted to. Most of the time I did just that, and I remember calling up to request Heat Wave all the time.

What got me on this rant, again..?.. Oh yeah, Grammy’s. Well they were not bad and they have earned some respect from me for kickin’ it old school for once. However, I still don’t see what people like Lil’ Wayne for. If he got rid of some of the facial tattoos, maybe I could respect him. A little.

Merry Christmas!

by Tiff on Dec.25, 2007, under Holidays, Music

Merry Christmas everyone! These are my favorite Christmas songs.

Feliz Navidad brings the craziest feelings to me. When I was a little kid, Feliz Navidad was my favorite song EVER. My mother was an Avon representative so we got lots of free stuff from them. They sold the Time Life Christmas Record and that was the only holiday songs album we owned. It was two records of great Christmas classics. My parents played the record non stop during the holidays, but Feliz Navidad was my favorite. I first realized I loved the song during a Sesame Street Christmas Special. Big Bird and the Sesame Street gang were ice skating along to Feliz Navidad. My dad realized we had the song in our collection, and he put it on for me. I remember I would have my dad set it on the song on the record, and he would return to the den where he spent most of his time. Every 3 minutes, when the song was over, I would call him to put it back, over and over. I would spend my time dancing around the living room by myself singing along with the song. I forgot all about it when I got older, but when I hear the song I get the heebie jeebies remembering the song so well and how I reacted to it. It is such a warm feeling. It taught me some spanish as well. So, I included the song here. Feliz Navidad!

Little Drummer Girl

by Tiff on Dec.23, 2007, under Games, Holidays, Life, Music

I am sorry for abandoning you, Ms. Blog! I have had things going on but no time to write (or in other words, I didn’t take any time to write :D)

Friday, J got Rock Band and brought it home. This game is sweeeet!! I am the drummer that I have always wanted to be now. The backstory on my drumming dream is when I was in 5th grade, we had to pick our elective classes for the next year in Junior High. I chose band class, and for my instrument, I picked the drums. I waited all summer, excited to play my drums. I walk into class and there are two drum kits, and there are already boys sitting at them. They told me I had to pick a clarinet or something else because the boys already had the drums. I was livid! I switched electives a few days later. I have always been pissed that I was not given my drums! Rock Band is really realistic feeling and there are some great songs that you can unlock. I have pretty much played non stop for 2 days. I have improved a lot, but I am getting worried the sound the drumsticks make is going to get me a warning from my apartment neighbors. No one has complained yet though.

I spent a few hours yesterday at the mall, boy, was that ever fun. The traffic to the mall was incredible! I know it is to be expected the last weekend before Xmas but it was pretty crazy. I wanted to pick up a few more things for J because since I am a dumbass and gave him his birthday present before Xmas now I have to get him a birthday present. Hehehehe oh well. I grabbed him a few things and grabbed me some jeans which I have desperately needed. I got a few more Xmas gifts last night to my surprise as well. J gave me a Presto Pizzazz, which I always thought were so cool, I can not wait to use it. He also gave me a 100 dollar visa gift card… now that is awesome. He really got me a lot of stuff this year! Oh yes he also ordered us both some Tempurpedic pillows online which is sweet! We got a Tempurpedic bed in August so the pillows will be the finishing touch. I also got a check from my dad for 100 bucks, woot! I am going to take the 100 gift card and buy myself a comfortable computer chair, and the 100 from my dad will go towards a digital camera that I have been wanting for a while. The only camera that I have owned for years was whatever camera my cell phone had at the time. While technology has come a long way, the pictures are rarely how I want them and the shutter takes too long to get a good shot, Although I must admit I have kind of mastered the cell phone photography genre.

I had to get up at 4:50 AM this morning to drive J to the airport. That sucked, but I got there and back and passed back out for a while. He will be gone for 3 days :( I will be lonely but I have my kids here to keep me company so it’s gonna be alright. Ok I am starving for some lunch. I’m out!

Damn you, 3 AM….

by Tiff on Dec.15, 2007, under Life, Music, Work

Hi! It is almost 3 AM and I am still here. I am tired, and am heading to bed soon. Today was a pretty good day at work! I got most of my clients done and we got to finish the keg from the holiday party. I can not believe how much beer was left in there. I think it is still not officially “tapped” however it will be thrown out regardless. I have to say that I am surprised how people either A) hold their alcohol or B) drive after drinking a lot. I swear I saw people have 4-5 cups of beer and they felt fine to drive home. I am not judging them by any means but it seems like I can only have 1-2 cups before I am feeling giggly. I guess it also depends on how fast you drink it. I tend to be a long drawn out drinker, I can drink 7-10 beers at a party (without any intention to need to drive) and I would be drunk, but not wasted or whatever. However, my example is over the course of a whole party (long party), like 6-7 hours for instance. I guess that is why I assume I have a large tolerance but if you give me hard alcohol or strong cocktails it will not be long before you have to peel me off of the floor. lol.

Anyway, I was able to get out of there at about 7:30 which is like, a nice early time these days. I was pleased. When I got home, I did some dishes and had a short visit from a ex-coworker/friend D. Then I told J that I would buy us burritos if he went and got them for us, so he did! I had tacos and chips and guacamole, mmmm. Oh yes, I am on a new break from WoW at the moment, I am finally bored of it (again). For those who do not know, I am an off and on WoW freak and have been since launch. (Yes, I am proud of that)

I have more things going on, but I need to get some sleep. Now it is AFTER 3 am. I wanted to keep it short, but oh well. Tomorrow (or the next time I remember) I will inform you about upcoming hobbies I plan to take up, and how I plan to join a gym, and also will tell you how I am finally Credit Card debt free! Good night!
